Throughout my business life I was always aware that there were just two columns in any balance sheet - simply money in and money out. Many of the settlements may indeed have reached the end of their "usefulness" to the state of Israel. And thats gonna be a very hard pill for the settlers and their supporters to swallow. One of the original purposes was defensive. The Wall with all its modern technology can provide a more effective barrier against infiltration. And, as far as providing a security layer to protect Ben Gurion and Tel Aviv from Qassams - forget it, they can easily be replaced by bigger and better projectiles with a longer range. As far as I can read, the withdrawal from Gaza has proved cash positive to the Israeli economy. So, rather than just talking about the enormous cost of a WB withdrawal, how about telling us what it will cost financially to continue to support the settlers ad infinitum. Mebbe, it aint a lot of difference when you get to the bottom line.
