One of Sharon's accomplishments is that he defeated the Palestinian demographic threat (or threats) without sacrificing the core Jewish values. The issue of Jerusalem, remaining Israel's eternal capital, is a key Jewish value that cannot be bartered away to the enemy. Sharon found a successful formula to disengage from the enemy, without giving an inch in terms of this core Jewish value. The enemy can yell and scream all they want, complain to UN, throw rocks at the wall, blow themselves up, but in the end, if they want to survive, to feed thier children, they will have no choice. The wall defeats thier terrorist strategy, and Sharon's shrewd diplomatic moves (i.e. US guarantees) achieved the diplomatic victory. The key for Israel is to continue Sharon's policy, and it looks like the strong Israeli support for Kadima will guarantee it.
