Sir, You state, "Ariel Sharon, who evacuated Gaza unilaterally, without an agreement, and President George Bush, who pressed the Palestinians to hold democratic elections in order to establish a stable regional order" But you fail to mention there was the continued targetted asssinations from the IAF. Then there was the round up and arrest of most of the elected officials in Hamas' unexpected election victory. And then sanctions, bombing raids and electricity cuts. And you wonder why there was civil war? Hamas have never been the easiest to deal with in their short history but chosing the ballot to conmbat Israel's clear power in this 'war of attrition' shows that intent to change is possiblle. How does the US and Israel react to the unexpcted result of Hamas' rising popularity? Assisinations, mass-arrests, sanctions and bombing. If an army as powerful as Israel's were comitting these crimes in my neighbourhood I would be obliged to use any means necessary to fight back.
