The international community has largely been supportive of what it sees as Israel's right to self defence but has conditioned this by stressing the "urgent need" for progress on the wider conflict. Under these circumstances I wonder how keen Bibi will be to retaliate against the Palestinians if they achieve upgraded status in UNGA. My guess is that - especially given the current environment - even he has the sense to know that would be one step to far.
