What surprises me is that it is the same circle in the Israeli society clamoring for dialog with Islamic militancy that are insisting that the full force of law be implemented against parents who want a different religious agenda for their daughters. Why cant such a liberal and open minded individual understand that the same way the values of a modern, tolerant and liberal society are sacrosanct to some, the belief that Torah has eternal value even over secular law will be held by others. The high court instead of persisting in its foolishness of sending parents to jail should rather pass the ball back to the politicians with the job to find finally a solution to the age old problem of religion v state. Maybe a form of limited autonomy for tha Haredim - just as for the Palestinians.
