"The ayatollahs did not pour hundreds of millions of dollars into bunkers like those discovered in Maroun al-Ras so that their Shi'ite brethren in Lebanon would unreservedly adopt Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora's 'seven-point program'." Eldar writes as if Hizballah is some arm of Iran. Hizballah takes care of its OWN agenda, which is not global Jihad (like Iran) but liberation of its land. Hizballah stated in the past that they would disarm once the Shabaa Farm is back in Lebanese hands. So far, there is no reason to doubt that, even if this goal does not please Iran. Consider Eldar's view of mentioning the 1949 armistice agreement among the 7-point program. Hizballah agreed to it because the Shabaa Farm was ALSO mentioned in that program. In other words, all the territorial dispues with Israel were to be settled. But since the recent UN resolution does not solve Shabaa, Hizballah now says that it does not want to let Lebanese army into the south. There are 2 possibilities: 1. Hizballah was insincere, following Iran's desires, as Eldar might think. 2. Hizballah was sincere all along. Israel better get rid of Shabaa and see Hizballah dismantled or run into conflict with the Lebanese people. Better pursue this line. It is less paranoid and can lead to gains. BG
