Besides the security measures Israel take to protect its passengers, its superb ex Israeli air force pilots are making El-Al second to none. To become an IAF pilot Israel picks the brightest and the most talented among its people. When you fly in the USA (probably in most other countries too) on commuter flights you aren't getting the brightest or the best the nation has to offer. One of my sons class mates is a commuter plane pilot, in his case the public is getting the dumbest. All he had to do is spent $50,000-$80,000 on a flight school and pass minimum requirements on the testing. The reason airlines hire people like him is because they are cheep they are paid between $25,000-$50,000 a year depending on how many years of experience they have.
