The Jews of Egypt did not necessarily flee after the Suez canal crisis in 1956, they were also thrown out of the country when they happened -as often was the case - to be British or French, and all their possessions were confiscated. They were allowed 20kg of luggage and a paltry sum of money that would barely pay for a couple of nights in a third rate hotel.
