One of the most fundamental lessons anybody learns while getting educated is that is is very difficult to impossible to rank cultures. I guess the author missed that lesson! What seems important to one culture may not have any value in other cultures. The Mizrahi culture is consist of many sub cultures and is not inferior to any other culture. Some Mizrahi cultures like Iranians are more educated, wealthy and successful than most western cultures (just look at Beverly hills or NY with their hugely successful Iranian communities). In fact there are a lot of good things that so called western cultures can learn from basic Misrahi culture; like respect for family, their kind hospitality to strangers, helping each other, taking care of parents and community. The author maybe a good poet buy he is a damn bigot!
