There is a phrase in Hebrew: zeh yehiey b'seder, it'll be ok. Sharon might have thought that when he unilateral brought back the Gaza colonists to Israel. But it is likely that he was willing to sacrifice them for the greater good. It goes like this. Sharon knew the chaos that would ensue after the unilateral move. He had been provoking it with his policies for years in Gaza. That would be all the more reason to provide a cover for keeping the WB under Israel occupation. The 7500 in Gaza would secure the position of the near 200,000 occupiers in the WB and a choatic Gaza, as radicalised as possible, would help him keep his strangle hold over palestine. Thhis is the way it has played out. There will be a knock down of a hilltop camp or underproducing colony for sure so Israqel and bush can see the sacrifices Israel is making for peace, but otherwise the colonists in WB will stay where they are and the intifada will increqse their insecurity which will only give credence to the zealots.
