What has occupation got to do with some people being cold-hearted SOB ? A more benign explanation is that this happened because of years of hostilities and lack of trust on both sides. I think that an overwhelming majority of people anywhere would agree that the right thing to do is to let some Palestinians desperately seeking medical help into Israel on compassionate grounds, plain and simple. It is not only Jewish but also humane to do so. If denial had taken place by some misguided, heartless authority figures on the Israeli side, as reported in Bradley’s article, it should be investigated and the policy changed accordingly. It is also equally stupid to engage in a wholesale indictment of Israel as a nation/country based on these events. As a historical note, Jews escaping the Nazis 1939 by a ship denied docking rights by Canada, US and Cuba. All went back to Germany and perished in death camps. Many desperate Vietnam boat people were denied entry anywhere in East-Asia, including Japan. Egypt executed Darfur refugees desperately trying to escape genocide. What is happening is terrible. It is right to point out the wrongs of Israel. It NOT right to single Israel out for condemnation ignoring the rest.
