Dying in vain it is, because Israel has ceased to be relevant as a nation. The best and the brightest leave for the US or Europe, and there is an inability to blend in even with Arabs who live in the country as putative citizens. Add an inability to keep gained territory ( Sinai, Golan Heights ) and you can see what Pat Buchanan meant when he said last week that " The demographics inside Israel will take care of the Israeli problem" Pat did not elaborate but it was obvious. Yes, it is dying in vain, the Israel of 50 yrs from now will not likely be a "jewish" state, but a more democratic jewish/arabic/filipino one.
