It's really tragic. When I read Ari Shavit's open letter to Netanyahu the other day, I saw through the spin but chose to ignore it, preferring to focus on the supposed "speaking truth to power" that his warnings to Netanyahu about his being hated by everybody appeared to be. But, as the opinions in the present column shows, that was just a deceitful preamble designed to gain credibility, so as to reject as "impossible demands on Israel" any accommodation to the legitimate Palestinian aspirations that the Obama administration is requiring Netanyahu to meet. Such duplicity is dangerous to Israel. I had thought that Ari Shavit understod that. But he was deceiving himself, thinking that he was deceiving us. It in such webs of deceit that conspirators end up ensnaring themselves.
