without provocation with a view to eliminating Israel and its Jewish population. Duh occupation persisted after Pals refused, repeatedly, to take up Israeli offers to withdraw in exchange for recognition, peace and arrangement for access by Jews to their holiest places. After 30 years of "no recognition, no peace, no negotiations", followed by murders, suicide bombings and rocketing of civilian population, surprise, surprise, the Israeli attitude has hardned. That isn't to say there isn't room for peace and that it isn't practical. But it start with a genuine commitment to negotiate a peace agreement, to make compromises and not to have pre-conditions to negotiations. Yes, bottom lines are indeed permissable and justified but not pre-conditions.
