Eprhaim Sneh's and Dan Rubenstein's article dovetail each other and together with the reponses to them they all add up to last year's rain- just drivel. This is all territory covered in minute detail endlessly. There is a brutal, suffocating and corrupting occupation of land AND its people againt their and the world's wishes. If there is any question about the nature of the Israeli occupation and the settlers that perpetuate it, one should be prepared to view the upcoming documentary by Haim Yavin!). Mr. Sneh, you will recall was part of the problem (as the proconsul in the occupied West Bank). Now he has notions about what to do to avoid dealing with the inevitable consequence of the occupation (which by the way he does not reommend terminating forthwith)- the emergence of Hamas as a political force to reckon with. The cat is out of the bag and what happens now is the snowballing effect of the political follies. Unless the Israeli citizenship right and left accepts that the occupation and everything that flow from it are untennable (this is not rocket science) and that only radical and swift steps to terminate it will break this vicious cycle, Israelis and Palestinians are doomed to continue to live in uncertainty (the former) and misery (the latter).
