The headlines this week reeked of déjà vu, reminiscent of previous confrontations and intifadas, as conditions on the ground in Gaza are becoming more and more similar to those that preceded the 2014 war.19:05 05.02.16 | 4 comments
Whoah! The Quartet demand was that the Pals renounce violence. That is, that they no longer attempt to use violence to achieve they political goals. Now, let's get some things straight here: The Pals are under occupation, and the IDF is the Occupying Power. That brings obligations under Int'l Humanitarian Laws to care for and protect the people it has under occupation. That's why they are called PROTECTED PERSONS, you see... Being the OP does not allow you to lord over them, and they do not become your serfs. So if an OP does abuse its position and attempts to oppress these protected persons then they have an UNALIENABLE right to resist that oppression, because the OP has no right to attempt to impose itself beyond what is allowed in the Geneva Conventions. Yet now the USA is saying that this is not so; Israel can Do What It Likes, and if it does then the Pals have no right to resist. None. None at all. Which means they are serfs, and Israel is their Lord and Master.
