The israelis before the second intifada: not so dillusioned. Ready to talk and compromise. The israelis after the second intifada, and after Cast Lead: Very disillusioned. Realistic. Pissed off. Is that a strange development? No. And I don´t buy Mr. Levys prophecy that we will never be offered a better deal. Things change, the river flows. Maybe one day we have democracys as neighbours. That will have a huge impact on the palestinians and on the situation. Enough with that apocalyptic style that both Gideon Levy and Saeb Erekat loves: High-pitched warnings that if we dont understand and do according to their beliefs, than hell will fall upon us. We need to be less hysterical. And we need, like Fayyad, to build and work hard today, that peace will come one day. Maybe in 40 years, who knows?
