Netanyahu & Yishai's stunt already hurt US regional policy and relations in many places around the world. It looks like Israel is running and/or dictating US foreign policy. And General Petraeus is right to be concerned. But this issue was bound to come up. When Israel decided to unilaterally violate the Geneva Conventions and unilaterally declared sovereignty over land acquired by conquest, the stage was set. It was wrong and illegal for Jordan to seize Jerusalem. And it is wrong and illegal for Israel to seize Jerusalem. The only legal, not-wrong way to achieve anything meaningful is to negotiate a deal where nobody gets everything. And everybody's rights are respected. Neither Yishai's not Netanyahu's head will do the trick. But Netanyahu flipping the finger at the US, yesterday, didn't help.
