When you count the 2000 years of minimal Jewish presence in Palestine as general absence, and the fact that the Samaritans were generally ancestors of the Palestinians, it is arguable that the Palestinians have occupied Palestine for roughly 3000 years. That entitles them to at least equal consideration with the Jews. A couple of hundred years ago, Jews comprised some 10% of the population of Palestine, a small percentage in any case. This is of far more significance than ancient history, which is irrelevant for land claims, or chaos would erupt globally. The recent demographics, of recent centuries have the most weight. The Palestinians have been most gracious in offering the Israelis the Saudi solution, an offer Israel can hardly afford to refuse.
