One of the main reasons I left Israel (several decades ago) was because I could not abide carrying an identity card that declared me to be a "Jew". I do not choose to be a "Jew". I am a human being with no religion and no particular attachment to any tribe - I am a member of the human race, no more and no less. I did not wish the State of Israel to impose a religious nor tribal identification on me, so I left and moved to a country that does not indulge in official racism (no, it's far from perfect, but at least it's moving in the correct direction). Perhaps Israel Harel would say "good riddance" to me. But I'm not alone. By now I've met quite a few former Israelis in the US who left for the same reason, and given the increasing racism of Israeli society, I expect those numbers to increase. No decent human being wants to live in a racist country. Meanwhile, each generation of Americans is more anti-racist its predecessor, and consequently, each generation finds less and less to like about Israel. If Israel continues on it's present course, the one of which Mr. Harel approves, it will eventually lose all American support, as well as that of decent people everywhere else.
