70% of these youngsters voted for Kheinin at the last municipal election. Leef already signed a petition supporting the refuznik movement. There is not one single person in Israel who is not aware of their opposition to the occupation. There is no need to ask more from them. The only reason this movement focuses exclusively on social justice and not on the occupation, is because they need to attract working class Oriental Jews who are likely to support this movement but who still vote Likud, ¸ You just can't attract Oriental Jews by talking about the Palestinians. Remember that they were persecuted in Arab countries and they have good reasons not to be sensitive to the plight of the Palestinians. Oriental Jews also have their own nakba, and no one talks about it. Thus, if you want them to join the social justice movement, you must focus on socio-economic issues. It is only by understanding that restoring welfare state implies the end of the occupation, that you can drag Oriental Jews to the peace camp, not by talking about the Nakba, the settlements, etc.. Otherwise, this movement will end up like Hadash, Gush Shalom and so on. It will become a marginal group loved by Western leftists but that will completely ignored by Israelis.
