Elected representatives do not become lap-dogs of the sitting prime-minister just because they were not part of the government before the election. The whole idea of representative democracy is that the elected officials represent their voters and govern on their behalf. Thus they do not only have the right, but also the obligation to make their political demands heard if they are to assist in the creation of a new government. Questioning this shows a profound lack of understanding of this whole political system.
