Sending the flotilla to Ashdod or some other Israeli port seems to be the sensible thing to do. Every attempt to bust the blockade brings with it the probability that munitions and explosives will be smuggled in that will be used to harm Israel. Nothing can be allowed into Gaza that hamas can use to inflict damage on Israel that will require a retaliatory strike. Hamas deplorably uses human shields and retaliatory strikes inevitably cause collateral damage. Therefore in order to stop the collateral damage, it is prudent to prevent hamas from getting supplies to build missiles or mortars with which to attack Israel. Divert the flotilla. Be as gentle as they will let you and as firm as you must.
