Israel's government has shown uncommon good sense in handling this latest 'blockade runner.' It has not, however, won any victory. Today's NY Times has, immediately below the masthead, a four column color photograph of a family in Gaza City. The story is entitled 'Trapped by Gaza Blockade, Locked in Despair." One of the authors is Jerusalem resident Eathan Bronner. The world has discovered the blockade and every time Israel turns away a relief ship is a victory for Hamas. A PR disaster like the Flotilla Fiasco has been evaded, but another round in the PR war lost. What IS the purpose of the blockade anyhow? To bring down Hamas - FAIL. To prevent weapons from getting to Hamas - FAIL. To punish the people of Gaza - SUCCESS. To make Israel look like a monster - SUCCESS It might be time for Israel to stop being Hamas's best friend.

When Adolf Hitler first sent Jews to die, Europeans and Americans agreed that it was not their problem. Israel may be about to make the same mistake about Assad's killings in Syria.15:28 05.05.16 | 2 comments
