Once there is a multilateral, official recognition of a Palestinian state, it would be too late to request extra land based on pre-1967 borders. That's why nothing can be more crucial than officially agreeing on the border issue, with the UN as a notary, before furthering into direct talks. Abbas is doing absolutely the right thing -- and should be supported by all Palestinian factions, by the way -- by refusing to negotiate on this fundamental principle. The call of Binyamin, who appears to think he is very smart, is that negotiations begin without legitimate preconditions... which is nothing but an insult to Palestinian intelligence.
