So, you negotiate under fire, about what exactly? It may be argued that Sharon should've been more helpful towards Abbas after Arafat was gone (it was Arafat that launched the Intifada), but there's no telling if this would've made any difference. Reg. the snubbing of Western diplomats, it's only a signal that somewhere you have to draw the line, & it's proper. Better that no-nonsense attitude than always stretching it & be a hypocrite. Hamas needs all this talk, to stall the game, in order to rearm & get stronger. What they should have is pressure & the message they're holding their own people hostage.
