(i'm of course aware of what's changed over the past year /so) hamas don't need the w. bank. they have a stronghold now w/absolute control, something they never had before. the main point is, in similar ways to hizbollah in the north they're increasingly becoming a serious lethal threat, one that won't go away. you can't just keep disregarding that & it is getting worse. in simple terms, israel can't afford to wait till chemical warheads have reached gaza. the same goes for lebanon. as to israel making serious efforts in the past to deal w/the smuggling & tunnels i believe you're just ill-informed. i remember them making this effort. now it soon will be 2 years since they left gaza. it's still an open question whether the egyptians ever will do what they should, although americans are now trying to push & help them on this. i don't like it either, but sometimes the choices one has are just horrendous. regards, dino, -
