Did Egypt 'stab Syria in the back' Chaim? Or did they actually harbor the same objective? The battle for the Golan was a VERY close run thing and it has always been a bit unclear why the Syrians did not swarm down off the Golan and into Israel. Perhaps they both had the same objective of seizing the essential territory lost to Israel in 1967. We do not know, too many secrets still are held in Cairo and Damascus. The war was well handled by the IDF, Syria stopped, and then Egypt dealt with. But aside from post-war speculation and prevarication's we do not know what the whole story was. But it must be born in mind that Syria was stopped first.
