The crew had been ordered to abandon an approach to one runway and switch to another. They were performing a circling approach to the other runway. The only circling approaches to any runway at OPRN (Islamibad) are a Non-Directional Beacon outbound on 160, turning left and leading over the area where impact occurred. The other is a circling VOR approach turns right and then is inbound to the VOR to the east of the runway. It is far too early to determine the cause for this CFIT accident.
