I believe that Lieberman is just being paranoid. This often comes fron a guilty conscience. The conscious Lieberman, like that of most Israelis says that all the land belongs to them and they must get rid of the trespassing Palestinians by whatever means necessary. The subconscious Lieberman, like that of most Israelis, is obsessed with the idea that one day they will have to pay for their actions and that this payment will be the destruction of Israel. I can understand why Lieberman would think that, but there is an escape hatch. If Israel stops avoiding peace and helps the Palestinians make their new state, this will mitigate part of the guilt and obsession. It will never really go away. Israelis will always know that the Palestinians have no reason to love them, but Israelis still have a chace to save their nation.
