Hamas is under pressure twice over, from both the worsening domestic situation in the Strip and the militant organization potentially losing its main threat against Israel.23:32 03.05.16 | 0 comments
Not a fan of the religious right, but I feel sorry for the Haredim. They are made to think that Israel is a Jewish state and their national home, where they can enjoy absolute religious fulfillment, and when they act accordingly they get bonked and treated like Palestinians. Sorry folks, you claim that Israel is divinely ordained as the ancestral home of the Jews, so you have to expect that a brand of primitive Judaism will find its way there. Zionism has planted this seed and you are now breeding it. And please don’t tell me that the Haredim do not represent the true values of Judaism. No religion has “true” values. It is how the believers interpret the texts and their inherited practices. As far as I am concerned the Haredim are every bit as Jewish as any other Jew in the world and has the same rights, including the right to practice their religion the way they want to in the land which they are told every minute of their lives has been handed down to them by God. Don’t like that? Then declare Israel national state of Israelis irrespective of religion, give the Arab Israelis their equal rights, and stop grabbing what you alone consider to be your rightful ancestral right in Palestine. This is your only alternative. If you choose to remain a Jewish state, you are going to collect a lot of strange types of Jews (from your perspective) and they are increasing all the time. They will swamp you.
