making such an astute observation about the varied Israeli population when it comes to its voting patterns and understandings about living with the Arab neighbours. The Russian immigrants are the newcomers to Israel as were my family from Iraq. Of course everyone has heard about the differences in treatment of Mizrachi Jews over the Russian Jews when they arrived to Israel and the benefits they received. But the majority of my relatives, now up to a few hundreds, voted mainly Labour or Meretz, but the business owners did vote Likud. (As many talkbackers know my father ran for the former Meretz in the 1950's and 60's). Clinton really is courageous for saying what he stated because the Yisrael Beteinu party has been challenging the progression towards reconciliation with Israel's adversaries. I personally love, love the Russian Jewry and really respect their well-rounded backgrounds and the difficult history they've had throughout the generations. (but the hardliners-right ie. Lieberman are more amusing then to be taken seriously). However, they haven't lived long enough in Israel to appreciate the fact that we are Semitic cousins to live side by side with the Palestinians and that we have to make the effort in achieving the necessary peace agreement.
