The so called 'moderate' Arab states have always been dictatorships and have been supported by the USA. The leadership elites of these states have maintained a cold peace with Israel despite Israel's treatment of Palestinians. Of course, it is still early days re Egypt and Tunesia (hopefully Libya will shed its dictator soon) but if they evolve into democratic states responsive to the legitimate needs and demands of their citizens, it is difficult to see any warming of their diplomatic relations with Israel unless Israel substantively changes its policies re Palestinians. It is doubtful that Israel is prepared to give up any land or extend any rights to Palestinians. So, the changes in the ME are not necessarily good news for Israel.
