America's principle allies in the mideast are not democracies nor is American pushing them to become democracys. In a democracy, the resentment of the people for American (or Israeli) meddling can be transformed by elections into a government that America and Israel do not care for. This happened long ago in Iran. It happened in 2006 with the Palestinians. It is happening now in Lebanon. America has no great love for democracys and is as likely to attempt to topple one as not if the American (or Israeli) leadership have the notion. In the case of Lebanon, they do have the notion. Their surrogates are hard at work instigating a civil war in Lebanon.
