Between 1550 and 1919 Turkey ruled over all of the Middle East. Ottomon rule was strict and deadly if any leader stepped out of line. Before that the middle East was run by royalty who also extinguished riff raff within. Post WW1 and the fall of the ottomon Empire the ME was ruled over by France and England. Those two armies OCCUPIED the ME. Not one Arab country dared attack the occupiers for mortal fear of the reprisals. So Tony the ills of the ME were from tyrannical assorted overlords and the modern world including Israel showed them a better life. Is that not what the Arab Spring is all about ? If Israel were to be eliminated tomorrow morning the gaiety in the streets of the arab world would be overwhelming ...yes. But what about the next day ? Reality sets in and they realize not having Israel to berate means they need to focus their lives on something else. WHAT ? Will the disappearance put more money and food in the pockets and their stomachs. I do no think so.

Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn

Why Britain's Labour has become synonymous with anti-Semitism

When senior party members spout vile anti-Jewish theories and at the same time insist they are in no way anti-Semites, they truly believe they are not lying.
