Actually, people immediately pointed out that Israel was confiscating and not releasing full evidence, but an altered video tape specially made to show only the IDF's side. People deplored the cover-up. I don't think Israel's worldwide standing got ANY better after the awful, amateur-like techniques employed by the IDF to falsify the story.
