I find it sad to see that certain ethnic, cultural or whatever groups turn back to a medieval religious view and even worse form non-secular communities that isolate themselves increasingly more from other French. The Jewish community may be scared that they are now, after decades of African and Arabic as well as Asian immigration, a real minority since soon there will be more Buddhists than Jews in France. However, is shutting yourself off and avoiding social and cultural mixing (that's not my illusion, it happens more and more), which is certainly what orthodox do a reasonable solution? One wonders why these people would live in France anyway, perhaps they would be better off in Jerusalem? Being myself of Jewish origin, I feel dismayed at the rise in intolerance and self-segregation of the French Jews, even those who are not in contact at all with the Muslim population in the wealthier suburbs.
