It's more exagerated in Israel, both because of the pressure of Israel's international situation and because liberal Jews are such quick thinkers and implementers. But the decline of the Left is a worldwide phenomena. Although they have large numbers, and are very vocal, they are gradually becomming more and more ineffective -- leaving the immediate guidance of state to motivated conservatives. The reason is the commoditization of college education. Generations have now been educated on hair-brained Critical Theory, Nietzschean Relativism, and Postmodernism. Much of that theory describes the impossibility of "realism": all is colored by power, there is no "truth" but only opinions. Heidegger, Lacan, Foucault, Derrida -- they all teach that liberal democracy is a facade. So the Left is already defeated by conflicted internal logic every time they decide to implement any liberal policy. Tragic.
