"There is no flood of Mexicans coming to the US. There is a demand for cheap labor which creates market controls on the flow. The rest is racist hysteria and post 9/11 paranoia." - David Howard Worse than that. In it's winter 2005 meeting, the Council for National Policy (look it up) decided that the "gay marriage" issue was losing traction and a new group would have to be singled out as hate objects for whipping up the religious right in the 2006 elections. The program decided upon had Bush pushing a 'guest worker' bill through in the spring of 2005, while the right-wing pundits, talk radio and preachers would start whipping up hate for Mexicans. The guest worker bill failed in 2005, and the House rushed through the hate bill before the guest worker bill could pass in 2006. . . So now the CNP and Republican party have screwed themselves by having failed to protect business with guest workers, and having whipped up the hate to the point that they now can't pass the legislation.
