Danite, long time no talk to...I will try to answer your questions: "What were the Israeli objectives under Oslo? Why did israel let Yasser Arafat back and begin negotiations with the PLO." Their stated policy was NO NO NO to an independent Palestinian State. This remained until the weaning days before Camp David 2. Their objectives were to end the occupation, while retaining complete control of the territory. This is why the settlements were expanded at an unprecedented feaverish pace during Oslo. According to Israel (please go back and read the old papers) Arafat's job was to provide security for the settlers and Israel (and of course, to pick up the garbage). "Why was the Israeli right so violent in their hatred of Rabin? Why did that loser freak shoot him?" The Israeli Right were worried that Oslo would lead to an end to their Greater Israel enterprise, similar to how American Gun advocates vigorously oppose even the slightest gun control legistlation.
