Yael Patir, Israel director of the left-leaning U.S. Jewish body, sat down with Haaretz to talk about Trump, the gap between U.S. and Israeli Jews, and the growing anger at the Israeli peace camp. Though she concedes boycott efforts by some on the left have a negative effect, she rejects calls to keep peace efforts local.01:12 01.05.16 | 4 comments
Livnat never had any culture, only small-minded personal political interests, always ready to appeal to the lowest instincts. Despite criticism of the Obama administration in the US (just read the Washington Post) and in Israel, what she said is unforgiveable. She should be fired (not immediately, otherwise she would present herself as a martyr of free speech). Having said that, Ally's "spoiled child approach" is condescending and unsupported by facts. The money Israel receives to buy weapons (exclusively from US companies!) is a fraction of the money given by the US to countries where the US is badmouthed on a daily basis in vulgar ways and by state-sponsored TV movies. It is also a tiny fraction of Israel's budget, and withholding it would virtually have no impact. Other things the US does for Israel are much more important!
