Here is how the Israel/Palestine zone could counterattack: pass a law banning ownership of land and businesses by foreign citizens, or franchises of corporations registered in foreign countries (e.g. the US). Because, one way of looking at what is going on here is that it is a lot like Admiral Perry's ``opening up of Japan'' in the 19th century. While it is good that the US would like to impose peace on the region, one can suspect that the ulterior motive is to cover the place with McDonalds, 7-11's and Starbucks (cf Japan).
