For starters, I went half way through your post and it was fine until you showed your political bias. Israel did not choose to destroy the Palestinian peace camp, but the Palestinians and other Arabs have weakened the Israeli peace camp. What did Israel get for a year and 4 months of settlement freeze? What did Israel ever get from land for peace? Hint: It's not peace. We got out of Gaza and got rockets and greater threats. We got out of S. Lebanon and got rockets and greater threats. Time and time again Palestinians show they're not interested in peace. over 60% of Palestinians in the WB consider the two state solution a phase in taking over all of Israel, in Gaza just last week Hamas said it wants to destroy Tel Aviv, but in exchange for a state, it will give a 10 years truce, as if it has the upper hand somehow. Palestinians are not cowards, fools or butchers? All 3 is wrong. They're cowards for hiding among civilians, storing ammunitions in schools, mosques and private houses. They're fools for deserting the peace option and they're butchered for their terrorist acts in the present and the past (and probably the future). I can accept some of your comparison but the glorification you add to them is based on personal bias, and is not supported by history. And now for the point of your post. Since you say they will fight, and they don't desire peace, what option is there for Israel? To defend itself, probably with cast lead 2.
