Moshe Arens has it exactly right. The Gazans have been given an opportunity to show the world what they would do with Israel gone, and they blew it. All "independence" means to them is a free hand to attack Israel. They learned nothing from their 1948 blunder. The world doesn't need a "Palestine" like this. The Kassams fired at Sderot show that a correction is in order. Reoccupy the former N. Gaza settlements, and the NE corner of Gaza to intersections of Highway 250 and Highway 4. This puts Ashkelon and Sderot town center out of maximum Kassam range (9 Km with current fuel). Evacuate this zone, raze all buildings and declare it a closed military area and No-Man's Land. If Kassam firing resumes at targets like Nahal Oz/Kfar Aza, ANNEX the No-Man's Land to Israel, and repeat the process, so the message is clear -- they shoot across the border, the border moves and they lose land. UN242 says Israel is entitled to "secure and recognized borders free from threats and acts of force".
