One side has a position which can be summed up in a 200 character Twitter post. The other side needs emergency meetings, arm twisting, threats against disloyal MK's and even demonstrations to reinforce the call for unity against capitulation to International law. Freezing construction in East Jerusalem won't hurt anyone except the bankers, real estate developers, and speculators. Tower cranes aren't dismantled and moved without substantial cost. Land acquisition, bribes, penalties, and all the costs associated with illegal construction starts cost multiple billions of sheckels. Usless the US is prepared to make whole the bankers and investors put at risk by a freeze or at least hint that such considerations are a part of the negotiations, some may be skeptical. Maybe Tim Geitner should replace Dennis Ross to advance the peace process.
