The headlines this week reeked of déjà vu, reminiscent of previous confrontations and intifadas, as conditions on the ground in Gaza are becoming more and more similar to those that preceded the 2014 war.19:05 05.02.16 | 4 comments
What a lot of garbage! The vast majority of people who live in Manhattan favor or do not oppose the development of this Muslim Community center, but that's not good enough for those who want to make political hay out of bigotry and ignorance. Get this: They have violated no state, federal or local law. They have violated no clause of the Constitution of the United States or the case law that supports it. They have no violated no mitzvah or halachic precept. About the worst that I can honestly say about the advocates of Cordoba House is that the siting is in poor taste. If each of us was hounded for our breaches of good taste, we would probably all end up in the clink. IMHO, building Cordoba House sends a clear message to the bin Ladens of this world that Americans cannot be terrorized. We have freedoms that they do not have and can never have. Building Cordoba House sends a clear message that we are WINNING the war on Terror. Let freedom ring!
