While I happen to agree with most of what the author has written I must admit my dismay at his uneducated and harmful approach to conversion. "if you tell me you're Jewish, that's good enough for me" just doesn't cut it. Conversion is a very serious aspect of Judaism and is not done arbitrarily or without caution. We don't accept people into our religion just because the ask. How many people have converted illegitimately only to not keep any of our laws or traditions. What is the point in converting if they do not act like Jews. The IDF conversions have been done under orthodox supervision and are therefore acceptable but there is still an unsettling number of non acceptable conversions taking place, thereby allowing people to claim they are Jewish and intermarry with us, creating a halachic quagmire that will be quite difficult to resolve. In short, i believe the author has some very interesting and correct ideas but he should review his words carefully in regards to conversion as it is a very volatile and difficult topic on which to lay judgement.
