I see no French vested interest in this and even if there were it is a good basis for starting peace talks. As some of you may know, France played a crucial role in helping Israel develop its nuclear weapon capability, and no matter what else; Israel is safe as a result. It will survive any attack by Arabs or Persians; indeed when the Egyptian sneak attack on Israel in 1973 turned very bad for Israel, the use of nuclear weapons was considered, but rejected when the US provided critical help. Israel also owes very much to the US. I think both countries have Israel's best interests at heart although they do have other agendas; but they want to get on with it. There are other pressing issues in the world. In this case of peace discussions with the Palestinians the US and French thinking converges. Israel, give it a try. Incidentally, guarding the Jordan River from a Jordanian attack on the West Bank as Netanyahu states is a joke. Is Syria or Iran going to attack through Jordan? What bullshit!
