He wants confrontation, really? ...by adopting non-violent principles (which Israel has not)...generally standing fast for many years on those principles in spite of incursions by foreign and domestic parties....by fulfilling all of the requirements of the peace agreements...and waiting...and waiting... What do you expect him to do? If he does nothing, he will lose all support. What choice does he have? You want him demilitarized, but also somehow want him able to tackle militant groups. It makes no sense.
