If America had even the slightest intention of attacking Iran, it would have happened by now. Since an attack at this point would already be too late and all it would serve to do at this point would be to spark another war. It's already too late to prevent a nuclear armed Iran. At BEST they could just delay the inevitable. As the optimistic estimates are at 2-3 years, the more realistic estimated would be, at most, a year and would likely do the reverse. It would cause Iran to speed up their nuclear ambitions, since they would no longer have to hide behind pretense. The world waited too long. They think a nuclear Iran will be no different from a nuclear Pakistan or a nuclear North Korea. Except that North Korea is an isolationist country. They couldn't care less what happens outside their borders as long as they current regime maintains control WITHIN their borders. As for Pakistan, they're shady, but not fanatical. They won't use nukes save as a last resort. Iran won't use nukes either... not directly, at least, unless attacked. What they WILL likely do is "accidentally" allow some of their weapons grade nuclear material to fall into that hands of Hamas or other terrorist groups who are more than willing to use it to construct a dirty bomb or a nuclear car bomb. Even a 1/2 Kiloton bomb detonated at street level will cause massive death, disease and destruction, making an entire city and the surrounding area unlivable.
